East End Improvement Project – Phase II
Town of Blackstone
The Town of Blackstone is preparing to carry out the East End Improvement Project, Phase II through the use of Virginia Community Development Block Grant Funds. In the implementation of this project the following kinds of contracts will be issued and procurements made:
Engineering, Surveying and Inspections
Contract and Grant Administration
Concrete Street and Drainage Improvements
Single Family Residential Construction both new and renovation
Subcontracts may include:
Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors;
Asphalt Pavers; Site Grading Contractors; Aggregate Suppliers.
Equipment employed may include:
Excavators, Loaders, Compactors and Dump Trucks.
The Town of Blackstone is soliciting the participation of minority-owned and female-owned businesses, contractors and suppliers in carrying out this project. Such businesses may be included on appropriate bid and procurement lists by submitting a written request within ten (10) days of this notice. Requests should state the name, address, product or service, and how the firm qualifies as a minority or female owned business concern.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWN OF BLACKSTONE
The Blackstone Town Council shall hold a Public Hearing on April 19, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in the Blackstone Town Council Chambers, 100 W. Elm Street, Blackstone, Virginia. The Town Council shall consider a revision to the boundaries of the Blackstone Historic Business District. Specifically, the ordinance amends and reenacts Section 18-117 of the Blackstone Town Code. The ordinance, if approved would amend the boundaries of the district. All properties located south of Irvin Street and that property known as the Harris Armory would be removed from the district and certain properties which abut Brown Street between W. Irvin Street and W. Maple Street would be added to the district. The Town Council may adopt this ordinance following this public hearing. Any individual desiring to address the board should attend the public hearing at the above stated date and time.
