NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TOWN OF BLACKSTONE

 

The Blackstone Town Council shall hold a Public Hearing on July 19, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in the Blackstone Town Council Chambers, 100 W. Elm Street, Blackstone, Virginia.  The Town Council will consider an ordinance declaring 415 Oak Street, Blackstone, Va.  23824 to be blighted and a public nuisance along with a recommended spot blight abatement plan.  The content of this ordinance is more fully described by the Town of Blackstone’s Spot Blight Abatement Policy and Virginia Code Section 36-49.1:1.  Town Council shall receive the Town Manager’s recommendation and public comment regarding this ordinance during the Public Hearing.  The Town Council may approve this ordinance following this public hearing.  Any individual desiring to address the Town Council should attend the public hearing at the above stated date and time.  All workpapers verifying such facts are available for the public to review and requests for information should be directed to the Blackstone Town Manager at philipv@townofblackstoneva.com or (434) 292-7251.  It is the intention of the Town to comply with the ADA.  Persons requiring physical or sensory accommodations should contact the Town Manager’s office no later than 5:00 p.m., July 15, 2021.

BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS

 

The Town of Blackstone Board of Zoning Appeals shall hold a Public Hearing on August 2, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the Blackstone Town Council Chambers, 100 W. Elm Street, Blackstone, Virginia.  Waukeshaw Development is the applicant for a variance to Section 6-8.3 of the Blackstone Zoning Ordinance.  The request, if granted, would permit development of multi-family dwellings units within 7.5 feet from the rear property line.  The current ordinance maintains a 25 feet rear setback. The variance request specifically applies to property known as Nottoway County Tax Map Number 50A32-1-36, lots 7 through 15, lots 44 through 50 and a portion of lot 16.  This property is located on Second Street between College Avenue and S. Amelia Avenue and is currently zoned R-3, Residential.  The Board of Zoning Appeals may approve this request following this public hearing.  Any individual desiring to address the board should attend the public hearing at the above stated date and time.  Additional information or requests for information should be directed to the Blackstone Town Manager at philipv@townofblackstoneva.com or (434) 292-7251.  It is the intention of the Town to comply with the ADA.  Persons requiring physical or sensory accommodations should contact the Town Manager’s office no later than 5:00 p.m., July 29, 2021.

BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS

 

The Town of Blackstone Board of Zoning Appeals shall hold a Public Hearing on August 2, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the Blackstone Town Council Chambers, 100 W. Elm Street, Blackstone, Virginia.  The applicant, Blackstone Investment, LLC requests a variance to Section 13-1.2 of the Blackstone Zoning Ordinance.  The request, if granted, would permit one off street parking spaces per one bedroom dwelling unit rather than the 2.0 spaces currently required.  The variance request specifically applies to property known as Nottoway County Tax Map Number 50A33-4-C-30 through 33, 49 through 52, and portions of lots 34 and 53.  This property is located on Lester Street and is currently zoned R-3, Residential.  The Board of Zoning Appeals may adopt this request following this public hearing.  Any individual desiring to address the board should attend the public hearing at the above stated date and time.  Additional information or requests for information should be directed to the Blackstone Town Manager at philipv@townofblackstoneva.com or (434) 292-7251.  It is the intention of the Town to comply with the ADA.  Persons requiring physical or sensory accommodations should contact the Town Manager’s office no later than 5:00 p.m., July 29, 2021.
